Music Producer Artin Pro Directs UPRS to Send All His Royalties to Families of Late Producers Danz Kumapeesa and Skills on the Beat

One of the Uganda's most celebrated music producer Artin Pro has directed the Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) to channel all royalties and allowances due to him to the families of two late producers — Danz Kumapeesa and Skills on the Beat.

BAsed on his recent communication on social media pages,   Artin Pro revealed that the decision comes as part of his responsibility as a Director at UPRS, a position he took in August 2024 following a delegates’ mandate.

He explained that serving in leadership has opened his eyes to uncomfortable realities within the music industry, particularly the vulnerability faced by families of deceased creatives.

Artin: I accepted that role knowing leadership is a service.

As leadership elevates your view, it also exposes hard truths. When our fellow creators pass on, their families are often left vulnerable, yet the industry continues to benefit from their legacy. That disconnect must be addressed,”

He described the move as both a personal decision and a statement of principle, emphasizing that creators’ rights should not end with their lives. Hence instructing the UPRS management that all royalties and allowances due to him — both now and in the future — be remitted to the families of the late Producer Danz Ku Mapeesa and Producer Skills on the Beat.

Artin: “Our responsibility extends to the families and legacies they left behind,”  Adding that the gesture will remain in effect for the remainder of his tenure as Director representing audio producers.
