Kenzo, who initiated the federation early last year, disclosed that the funds were disbursed several weeks ago and outlined plans for their utilization, aligning with prior discussions among federation members.

Kenzo, alongside his appointed deputies Pallaso, Sheebah, and Juliana Kanyomozi, initially faced criticism from some fellow artists who accused him of self-interest in securing government funds.

Despite allegations of appropriating ideas from the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), Kenzo remained resolute in his commitment to ensuring artists benefit financially from the industry.

Moreover, Kenzo’s federation has been actively advocating for the enactment of copyright legislation, which is reportedly in progress and anticipated to be implemented soon. This legislation is seen as a crucial step towards safeguarding the rights and earnings of musicians.

Addressing the allocation of funds, Kenzo emphasized that the government had responded to their request for financial support to facilitate artists’ entrepreneurial ventures. With the funds now available, the federation is strategizing on effective mechanisms to maximize their impact and empower artists economically.
