All AI music producers should be sued in court.
Recent, events have sparked a heated debate about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to manipulate artists’ voices and create unauthorized collaborations. One of those being the release of Azawi’s new song “Masavu,” allegedly featuring the late Radio Mowzey, has brought this issue to the forefront, leaving artists in fury and scared for the future of their art especially in a country where the copyright law is yet to be strengthened. In the case of Azawi’s “Masavu,” an unknown person reportedly used AI to fix the late Radio Mowzey’s voice and create a collaboration without obtaining legal permission. The resulting AI-produced song quickly gained popularity, sparking both admiration and controversy among listeners. Omega 256, a fellow artist has spoken out against AI producers who create songs without proper authorization. She argues that artists pour their hearts and souls into their work, facing numerous challenges along the way. To have their art manipulated without consent is not only disrespectful but also undermines the value of their hard work.
